Forrest City, Arkansas

Summer of 1965

I saw a ufo in forrest city arkansas , it was late summer of 1965 , i was 14 . .

My stepdad and i were playing catch in the front yard of our home on mississippi ave . , my mom was sitting on th steps watching us . th time was aproximately 6pm cst or close to that . . the skys were clear and the sun was begining to set . as i threw my stepdad , charles branch the ball i noticed a large spherical object gliding in from the north , i was facing east and it had reftlected the sun into my eyes . i called it to charles attention and i heard my mom nervously ask him what it was as she came and stood beside me . as it floated gently across the neighboorhood i heard a gentle hissing sound and noticed the images of trees and houses reflected from it as it passed over us . it was no more than 500 feet off th ground and was about 150 feet in diameter . it wobbled somewhat and seemed to drift east and then back west some , this course change never exceeded 1000 feet at any time , it never changed altitude and as it passed directly over us i could see our house reflected from its shiny surface . it was comletely smooth , with no appendages or irregularities anywhere on its visible surface . the surface was so reflective that it could be compared to a very good quality mirror .

Charles had told my mom that it was a weather balloon , and she had scoffed him saying that when she lived in north little rock she had been to the airbase there and seen weather baloons , and that this wasnt one . i mayself have seen many balloons of many different kinds both weather (military)and civilian , and have never seen anything that even resembled it remotely .

My dog tippy aged 14 also, disapeared that night after something hit the side of the house very hard , waking us all up . we never saw him again .

During this period 1965-66-67 there were many reports of ufo's around the memphis area , forrest city is approximately 35 miles west of memphis tenn.

After this charles often teased me about little men from new mexico , saying i should go there . i never knew what he was talking about until i was a grown man and read about the roswell incedent . he always left me with the feeling that he knew alot more about what we had seen , than he let on .

I have seen much in the sky since that i could not rationally explain . i will no go into that here as i feel i have taken to much of your time as it is .

Charles branch was an electrical engineer at this time for ap&l and untill his death in 1974 , he had worked for hughes aircraft in the 40's and 50's , my mom was an artist and art teacher . thank you for listening .
