Okeechobee County, Fla

I would have to find my old pilot log books to make sure of the dates. The first sighting was in the late 1960's in Okeechobee County, Fla. My wife and I were driving from my folks home in Okeechobee to our home in Clewiston, Fla. I was a member of the local CAP at that time. I was never able to spot one while flying at night, but this one came down over us, I pulled off the road thinking it was a plane in trouble, intending to land on the road. But it stopped right over us, I estimated it to be at about l50 feet up, 90 to 100 feet in diameter, bright lights, but no noise as it hovered over us. I pulled back on the road, it paced us for maybe 5 miles, then, whoosh , it was leaving us behind. The next one I saw close up was about 10 years later, in Marion County, Fla. I was a Forest Ranger, my partner and I were returning to our base at the Dunnellon fire tower, after a series of set fires that night. It too came down over us, very bright lights, no noise, and hovered just off the road for maybe 10 minutes, then left. We reported it to the sheriffs office and they took statements from us then searched the area, but found nothing. The next morning my wife and I took our plane and searched the area. Nothing. In the early seventies, I watched formations in the night sky over fla. flying a square pattern at speeds that it would have been impossible for anything military or commercial to fly. I did see two model flying saucers fly at the Dunnellon airport by the local Radio Control flying club. One was 36 inches in diameter, the other was 48 inches. Both had two engines. They said they were more difficult to fly than conventional aircraft models. They eventually cracked them both up.
